Affifa has loved being around kids for as far back as she can remember. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development at Texas Woman’s University. As a member of the competitive fast-track program, she completed her Master of Occupational therapy degree at the same university. Having lived in Northern Texas for 6 years, she moved to Maryland to be closer to her parents and siblings. As a new graduate, her career took a different path, and she accepted her first job working with adults at the University of Maryland Rehabilitation and Orthopaedic Institute in Baltimore. It was there she gained her clinical skills for treating neurological deficits, Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury, comprehensive medical rehabilitation, and some training in Spinal Cord Injury. Affifa gained excellent knowledge on custom splint/orthoses fabrication during her 4 years at UMROI. But as much as she enjoyed working with the adult population, a part of her always felt she needed to find her way back to pediatrics. She joined OT Connection late in 2016 to finally embark on the wonderful adventure known as pediatric occupational therapy!
In her free time, Affifa enjoys reading, being outdoors, traveling with her husband, and spending as much time with her family as possible.”
